Batch’s Bash! Lowender Peran 2019 Warm Up & Fundraising Ceilidh
October 4th - Hotel Bristol
Whether you’re a seasoned festival-goer warming up for this year’s festival, or you’ve never been to Lowender Peran and want to dip your toe in the water, come and dance your way to raising money for two great causes.
Pete Batchelor, former Proprietor of the Ponsmere Hotel in Perranporth, was a huge supporter of Lowender Peran. He very sadly passed away in December 2018. This will be a celebration of Pete’s enormous contribution to the festival, as well as a host of other local community events.
Available on the door, tickets are £5 (free for under 12s) and funds raised will support registered charities; Prostate Cancer UK (1005541) and Lowender Peran (297769).
7pm – Festival Preview Presentation:
Grab yourself a drink, sit back and enjoy a preview of all the performers and special events you can enjoy at this year’s festival. 2019 festival programmes will be available to buy on the evening, so feel free to bring a pen and make some notes. There will be plenty of time for questions.
8 – 10.30pm – Ceilidh dancing and raffle!
What’s a ceilidh?
The word ceilidh (kay-lee) comes from the Scottish Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’. It’s a fun-filled evening of wild dancing, good music and great company! Cornwall’s answer to the ceilidh is a ‘Troyl’ – which actually originated in Newquay! So you’re in the perfect place to carry on this fantastic Cornish tradition.
Anyone can take part, young or old, experienced dancers to beginners. No experience is necessary, and a caller will be on hand to help guide you through the dances. And whether or not you decide to join in the dancing, can enjoy an evening of foot tapping live music.
The ceilidh will take place in the Ballroom of the Hotel Bristol in Newquay, and the bar will be open!
Rooms are available at the Hotel Bristol on this evening. Quote "LOWENDER PERAN" for their special event rate, by calling them directly on 01637 875181.
